About Us

Located a short drive from Austin, the Highland Lakes Equality Center serves an area of more than 70,000 residents that encompass multiple counties along U.S. 281. The HLEC exists to help LGBTQ residents form friendships and closer connections through mixers, mingles and other social events. The center also has an emphasis on educational seminars created by its team of writers, editors and consultants and has obtained CPE provider status from the Texas Education Agency and the state board examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Workers and Professional Counselors. The HLEC's primary role is to help bridge the gap between LGBTQ members and those who love them. Hosting events that celebrate the beauty and grace of the community show people how much they have in common and encourage them to see their similarities.
