About Us

The Blanton Museum of Art is home to world-class art experiences with an Austin vibe. Founded in 1963, the museum holds the largest public collection in Central Texas with more than 21,000 objects. Recognized as the home of Ellsworth Kelly’s "Austin," its major collecting areas are modern and contemporary American and Latin American art, Italian Renaissance and Baroque paintings, and prints and drawings.

Known for exhibitions that span centuries, cultures, and continents, the Blanton also presents signature events year-round -- from its popular "B scene" exhibition-themed parties to its experimental "SoundSpace" program and its Blanton Block Party, a free day-to-night community art/music/food festival.

The museum sits at the crossroads of The University of Texas at Austin and the city's downtown, and welcomes residents and tourists alike to enjoy thought-provoking, visually arresting, and personally moving encounters with art.
